Do not worry about the appearance of counterfeits - too many to bother about all of them. Just remember and/or find out what the real thing looks like. Good-luck!

As much like a real one as the counterfeiter can manage, so long as the cost of doing so is significantly less than the apparent value of the check.

Look on the web site of the issuer (American Express, etc.) for tips on spotting forgeries. They all have their different security features.

Take it to your bank.

Plus, was it payment for some service or product? Or was it unexpected? There's a lot of scams going on with fraudulent money orders and travelers checks.

They look the same as real ones. You need to try to deposit it then wait for it to clear before sending the buyer what they purchased. This usually takes about 3 business days.

same as a real one that's the purpose of counterfeiting something, you don't want the other person to know it's fake
