I'm Canadian and my best friend, for the last 30 years, has been an American. In fact, I've met a lot of Americans and have liked almost all of them.
What issue Canadians have with America isn't Americans, but the American political and social structures. Canada is very much a citizen of the world and we feel a strong bond with the larger international community, while the U.S. is much more inverted politically and socially.
Most Canadians would like to see the U.S. become less capitalistic and more concerned with social equity.

I'm living in New Jersey right now and I'm Canadian. It's a cultural shock that's for sure. There is all this political correctness that I'm always being advised to follow less I get killed by non identified segments of society. I can't go out at night in certain areas again because of these un identified People who pose a real threat to themselves and others. It's sort of sad because it's true and lots of the people around me seem really embarrassed by it, like it shouldn't be this way; so they pretend it isn't; yet they know it is. I haven't meet any Americans that I don't like, they've all been great; but this violent crime thing freaks me out a bit. There seems to be two Americas the daytime America where it's cool to do what You want, then the night time America where it's way better to stay home or if you have to go out then make sure it's in a secure and well lit area like a shopping mall; or better yet; just stay home till morning. Weird, but like I said the People I've meet are great.

I'm canadian and I live on a border to the US.. takes me 5 minutes to go to america and I go there almost every day because there are things there that are just WAY cheaper than in my little canadian town.. SO.. I see americans every day and I think that the majority of them are okay, there are some that just plain suck.. but the same can be said for everyone in my town. The majority of canadians that I meet are okay, there are some that just plain suck.

I love Canada but a lot of Canadians I've met are arrogant about their country. Which is odd because most Americans have the same view of America as Canadians, that it's on the wrong path and being led by incompetents.

I think Canadian girls are hawt.
Seriously, I think it's unfair to stereotype each other. I seriously don't look at someone and secretly wonder if he's Canadian. I judge him as he is, a single person who has his own (usually valid) opinions, and is able to debate and understand Americans just like any other.
I myself am of Mexican descent, though I am as American as any other person. There is really a lot of diversity where I live so it's unfair I think to lump all Americans into one category.

Canadians are much more internationally / culturally aware and have more to talk about than how great their country is. Their range of conversation is much wider.
Americans, while being nice people also, tend to stick to topics they think they know alot about such as: America, 9/11, Afghanistan, McDonald's, Subway, Dieting, Eating, Fanny packs, education (ahem), Pearl Harbour, WW1, WW2, Church, God, Religion, Islam, ......
Anything to do with anyone else's actual culture and life.... forget about it.
Just my opinion as I know many Canadians and Americans.

I think Americans are typically more agressive than Canadians.
Some of my cousins are Americans and they're fab.
I like Americans, just like I'd like anybody else...
