I fed my daughter cereal by that age but with a spoon not in her bottle if you feel the rice cereal makes her constipated then try oatmeal instead.

Ok, I don't have any kids of my own, however, I do have 18 units of child development classes, 1 year of ROP experience (like an internship but during my senior year of high school) in a child development center working with infants/toddlers, and I am a Child Development Assistant working with 3 to 18 month olds at the child development center at my college. So, going by what I have learned while feeding the babies, at 3-4 months they do start giving them cereal, but not in a bottle, that's nuts, tell your mother in law to go to parenting classes please! That could choke her and is too think, bottles are made for milk and maybe water but not at that age. At the center they give a bottle of 6 ounces and then at lunch time when all the other kids are eating actual food they give them a veggie, fruit, and some cereal. They give cereal at the time when all the older ones are eating for breakfast. They also give bottles. She might still need to be burped, have you tried that? Talk to her doctor and see what he/she says.
Remember: ALL BABIES ARE DIFFERENT! so one baby may drink 8 ounces at 3 1/2 months but another may only drink 4 or 5 ounces.
3 1/2 months is not to young for cereal or oatmeal.
Also, She may also be teething try giving a teething biscuit. (they are not the ones you freeze, they are biscuits)

If she is still hungry start making 8 ounce bottles instead. If you want to feed her cereal do so with a spoon otherwise there is a risk of choking. Your mother in law may not know this as the study done on cereal in bottles was more recent.

She might need to burp. If she doesn't need to burp, then maybe the formula she is on isn't filling her. My baby didn't do well on the parent's choice formula. She was constantly hungary. I switched to the costco brand, Kirkland's Signature and she is satisfied. It's possible that she is drinking too much at one time and needs to burp. Try feeding her 3 ounces and then burping her, then feed her the other 3. If this doesn't work then switch formulas. I find it hard to believe that she needs more. My daughter is 6 months old and only drinks 4 ounces at a time. She eats every 2 hours during the day and sleeps all night. Occassionaly she gets oatmeal, which I wouldn't start your baby on that until about 6 months.

She might be going through a growth spurt, I think they do around that time. Try increasing the bottle to an 8 oz bottle, and then make sure that the crying is because she is hungry...she may need to burp.

you should never bottle feed cereal try spoon feeding rice cereal a few bites at a time, adding a few more each day you could also increase amounts of formula fed at one time most babies can consume 8 to 10 ounces of formula at a time at 3 months old I mixed the cereal with baby juice it helps with constipation problems

My 2 month old daughter was/is doing the same thing. She started completely finishing 4oz bottles and seemed hungry all the time, so we upped it to 6 oz. We decided to let her "tell" us if she is hungry - if she seems like she is constantly hungry, we up her ounces. It seems to work fine for us - the only problem is you have to make sure she doesn't drink too much - they'll just spit it up if they do. Good luck to you.

Add a couple of ounces and see if that satisfies her. She could be in a growth spurt which makes babies hungry! No solid food before 6 months (my mother always tried to push the rice cereal, too). Some babies also need to suck more even if they aren't hungry - try a Nuk or your finger for her to suck on.

i could have them do extra tests on her. atypical ingesting kinds and behavior may well be a demonstration of extra severe issues (such as intestinal parasites which would be led to via the water put in formal extremely in the adventure that your water comes from a nicely and isnt filtered or an lack of ability to your daughter to technique meals suitable so she's not getting the nutrition she needs even inspite of the shown fact that she's ingesting nutrition) and/or can positioned lots of stress on her physique. And, in the adventure that your wellness care expert doesnt do something, i could evaluate getting a 2d opinion or taking her to a pair sort of pressing care to have her appeared at there.

you should try giving her more then 6 oz of formula. Add 7oz see if that satisfies her. If not then try 8 oz. I wouldn't add cereal until the doctor gives you the OK.
