Gentle sex should help. Also take a walk. This stage of labour is takes very different amounts of time in each different person, so there's no way of telling how long you have to go...

Hi with my first i was 2 cm dilated for about 18 hours sorry to say. However, everybody is different. I had a very long slow labour and the only two things they told me to do was 1 to have a warm bath and relax. The other is to keep as active as possible. Go for a short walk, vacuum the house. Just to keep things moving. Try not to do too much though and make yourself tired. Giving birth takes enough energy alone. Good luck I'm sure you will have your bundle of joy with you very soon x

I had a membrane sweep and was 2cm dilated, i still went another 2 weeks and had to be induced - sorry, your baby will come when its ready. But you can try having sex, there is a hormone in the semen which can bring labour on - only if your ready though.

Just have to be patient im afraid! i was 2 cm dilated for 5 weeks before my son was born. After my waters broke it was about 10 hours before the contractioins started and another 7hours before i got to 3 cm! that was 7pm ish n my son was born at 12 20 the following afternoon..we're all so different though. dilation is more painful if it happens too quickly too.

My sister has 9 children, if she goes past the date the baby is due she always used to send me in the chemist for castor oil (a lot of chemists here in the uk wont sell castor oil to you if your heavily pregnant!)
She would mix it with pure orange juice, which looks as disgusting as it sounds...then drink it really quick! Yuk...but it would take long b4 she was dashing back and forth to the loo...bringing on contractions!!
I dont know if this would work for everyone, i have had 3 kids and expecting my 4th but i have never been brave enough to try it!!
Maybe your best just letting nature take its course and try to stop being sooooo impatient...once labour starts ur soon wish it hadnt!! good luck! xx

Can I suggest that you dont try to speed things up, let it go naturally, I was started after ten days overdue and went through a difficult 20 hour labour, that ended in a difficult emergency c section, my wee boy was just not ready to come,
I understand how you feel, i was crying in bed desperate for my baby to come, but due dates can be wrong and your baby mite be comfy in there for a bit longer, good luck

the toddler will basically come at the same time as it really is waiting. i recognize how complicated it really is to be soooo pregnant and depressing. i became dilated to 2 for more desirable than 2 weeks. My sister became dilated 4 cm for almost 4 weeks. It would not continuously propose that exertions is about to happen. yet your body is definately getting waiting itself.

It depends on your body really.
When I went into labour with both my sons I was having contractions without any breathing space.
I was 2cm dilated when I went into hospital, the midwife went for her lunch and said you'll still be here when I get back.
But within an hour I had my baby.
Good Luck. and happy new year.

Walking usually helps....they made me walk around the ward for an hour to try to speed up my labor then it hit me like a ton of bricks.
