The wide open spaces. The people who live in rural America that tourist never meet that will invite you into their homes and be as friendly as all get out!
The varied wonders of nature to be found there. Flat Plains, rolling green lush hills. Incredible mountains, vast flowering deserts., The Bad lands, filled with gorgeous land scales, the lakes and rivers filled with wonderful fish, the kelp gardens in the Monterrey bay, the redwood forests.... Even though there are a lot of bull **** rules and politicians the freedoms available there are vast and varied.
The fact you can drive in one direction for 2 days straight ( stopping for food gas and bathroom only) before you have to turn around.

It is a very nice place if you get out of the touristy cities and wander around a bit.

Lots of Americans kicked the smoking habit and as you probably guessed from the answers, many of us are willing to accept the faults of the nation, a great step toward freedom and equality that is terribly lacking not only in America but in many other countries as well.

The question should be what is not great about America? I have always been so glad that I'm an American. This is the greatest nation under God. I can be what I choose to be, say what I want to say, live like I want to live. You should be ashamed of yourself just asking this question. America has everything that I will ever need and I'll never go looking for more. Ask the ladies and gentlemen in the war if America is worth it and they'll say you're darn right it is.

America was founded upon a great principle, Give us your tired, your weary, your huddled masses. America was a refuge governed by the people, for those who wanted to leave their country in search of a better life. 200 years later, americans are the quickest to judge other people, and impose their own religous beliefs upon law, and government. bush claims he "talks to god" Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the foundation for a monarchy?

Our Constitution when upheld will keep this country free. We have been blessed with a rich soil that produces all the food we need with leftovers to feed other nations. To me it is my God that has made this country so great. God did it, not man. I truly feel blessed living in America.

I don't see where America is so great. I think majority of Americans are crooked. The rich keep getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

Everything... just go to a foreign country.

If I had to narrow things down... the organization, cleanliness, respect for law and authority, sacredness of individual freedom.
