Nope. Microsoft Word can be bought as either a stand-alone program or as part of Microsoft Office. It doesn't come with Windows XP, but some computer companies include Microsoft Word as part of the software bundle when you buy a new computer -- I understand you can get Microsoft Word with certain Dell computers without having to pay extra for it.

No, it is a separate program included with office or can be bought by itself I believe. However, if you have the microsoft works suite there is a word processor very comparable to Word and most likely should suit your need without having to spend $150+ for the newest office.

I upgraded from homestead windows Millenium to homestead windows XP homestead on my old laptop. It would not contain MS workplace. that's a seperate piece of utility. It in simple terms has the commonplace Wordpad and Notepad. a lots low priced option to MS workplace is 602 laptop Suite. Its properly matched with MS workplace records too. See the link under:

No, its not. XP home edition is just the operating system. You need MS Office for the productivity software.
But, try www.openoffice.org first.
It is free software that is very similar to, and compatible with, MS office.

No, but WordPad is. It's similar to MS Word but much less powerful with hardly any options. It still works though if you're on a budget.

No, it isn't. If you want Word, you need to buy MS Office. But you'd better wait till office 2007 is released.
