Apparently none, but in reality it's very important. Economics is over the heads of most people, so any attempt by politicians to address it is going to isolate them from mainstream American.

Excuse me?? Without an economy, where would the politicians get the money they wish to spend? The importance of economics in politics goes to the heart of why politicians choose to spend money and on what they choose to spend it.
