Using that word is not a matter of race or national origin, it's a matter of ignorance. Regardless of your country of origin (and yes, I know that Egypt is in Africa :) you should not use that word.

You are assuming that all African Americans approve of using that word. There are some who don't approve.

That word carries a lot of history and pain for African Americans who were brought to the US as slaves. If you're not a part of that history you shouldn't even contemplate using that word. It has nothing to do with Egypt being part of Africa.

P.S. Africa starts with a capital "A".

I wouldn't suggest it if you want to keep being able to talk. I am curious why you capitalized Egyptian and American when referring to yourself, yet put African and American in small letters? In case you didn't know many Blacks object to being referred to as African-Americans as Africa is a continent and not a country. Also, some of us object to being hyphenated Americans. There are no corresponding terms for Americans of European descent, such as Ital-American, German-American, and franco-american in common usage. White people are just white wth no hyphens involved. People of color are routinely assigned hypens such as Hispanic-American, African-American, etc. Hmmmmm?????

i love the answers- people are so funny!!!

No. you cannot say Ni##er without being offensive. That is because a powerful segment of our society has deemed the word innapropriate. when black people use the word, they are being offensive- they just do not care about what other people think. so the lesson of the day is: if you do not care about what other people think, you can say whatever you want. hope you can run fast....

It depends if you're really cool with one.
If you're not cool with one then i think not because african americans think that you're being rude. I personally dont care but others do because they think that its a discrace to their race!

I am very aware where Egypt is. And you are extremely rude. I hope the person in question will punch your nose.

of course. but dont use it around people you dont know, because that is a term that loses its stigma when its among friends. once you bring it outside your willing circle of friends, it becomes derrogatory.
