Should the Federal Government, which owns the oil on all Federal Land, such as ANWR, on the behalf of the American People...sell that oil directly on the commodities market by-passing the big oil companies and deposit the revenue into the Treasury. Then use that money to finance education, alternative envergy sources, and cutting taxes without increasing the deficit. This will increase supply of oil on the market and cause a price drop at the pump, which means an economic jump. Reduce our dependancy on OPEC. An if we use the resources to jump to Hygrogen power instead of Carbon in the long run everyone wins...conservative, liberals, corporate, and environmentalists.

I'm not proposing nationalizing anything, but I am proposing not to lease our nations resources to Big Companies for pennies on the dollar, but selling our nations resources on the open market and placing the money directly into treasury to take the burden off of the tax payers.

It's a very shortsighted solution to any type of revenue generation. An overlooked strength of America is that almost all our revenue is generated from its citizens and corporations via taxes. This reduces, certainly doesn't eliminate, the opportunity for corruption. I don't believe the changes you mention should occur at the governmental level. It won't work. Such changes need to come at the corporate and consumer level.
And as far as education goes, if we spend $1,000,000 per student, things won't change. Education starts in the home and that's where our problems lie. It's a social problem, not a financial problem.

1st, we have to develop those fields. That takes private companies. The US govt doesn't have the equipment or know how to do it. Not being a socialist, I think the govt should lease the land & put that money in the treasury.
Hydrogen power is all the rage, but hydrogen has to be made. This takes evergy, usually from carbon based fuels.

Not sure about your idea, but it is Dumbya Coup theft for oil companies to be allowed to drill on Federal land, as they are now, without paying royalties to the American taxpayer. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

How will the Federal government get said oil out of the ground? The idea sounds feasible until you start asking key questions such as the one I posed here.

What do I think? I think it is a fascinating idea! I really don't know if it would work realistically, but it is an idea worth researching and investigating. Have you written to your Congressman and Senators? What about the Department of Energy? Try it, and they may actually look into it. Good luck!

Well, like I said it before...when it comes to politics I tend to be a bit on the liberal side, in this case I agree with you 100%, however, I don't think the oil will drop any time soon. It may even
go up to $5.00 a gallon!...that figures!?...
But your idea sounds good ;)
cheers and happy new year!
oh, thanks for answering my question.

What you are proposing is nationalized industry. That is a bad idea--it makes government bigger, which is bad news. Also, the government is terrible at running any business--business needs the discipline of the profit motive. No.
