then why are there so many Canadians coming to border states and cities like Detroit, Buffalo, and Cleveland to get health care, yet there are no Americans flocking to Canada for their health care?

Note I am referring to people who are willing to pay out of their pockets for treatment.

National healthcare may sound great to many people, but in reality it sux. Take medical imaging, for example. In the U.S. there is usually at least 1 CT suite per hospital. In Canada, there's usually only a handful per CITY. There are certain head injuries that require a CT scan to detect swelling of the brain. In Canada there are more fatalities of these types of injuries because they don't have the resources to prevent them.

It's sad that everybody doesn't have healthcare, but if the government takes it over, it will be catastrophic for EVERYONE. The only ones pushing for nationalized healthcare are the standard anti-capitalist/pro-marxist crowd, who want to punish anybody who is productive by taxing them to death.

I would shudder to think what the cost (taxes) would be. You never know how expensive anything is until it is free. BTW the 45 million uninsured is a bogus number because it counts a person for that entire year even if they only go without health insurance coverage for as little as 1 day. The real number of hardcore unisured is approximately 40% of the 45 million number. And access to health services is guaranteed by federal law because any facility that takes federal funding must provide basic level care regardless of a patients ability to pay.

No Canadian in their right mind says that our health care system is perfect. The people that do cross over into the U.S. tend to be the wealthy that can afford the costs and do not want to wait their turn up here. What our system means is that should you fall ill , that you will get the treatment you need whether you are poor or rich. It is to insure that our weakest citizens are covered. Wait times and overcrowded emergency rooms and hospital bed shortages happen but at least I won't lose my home trying to pay for an illness or injury. I would rather my taxes benefited all than the few...

A better question, ask any Canadian if they would trade our health care system for theirs and you will get a resounding no. The myth that socialized medicine is substandard is spread by those capitalist that would not like to see it in the U.S. Insurance company's, American Medical Association, ect. They are just trying to protect their huge profits from the misery of the ill. At this time there are over 45 million people in the U.S. that have no access to affordable health care and it is a growing problem. A job moves overseas or an illness that requires that you can no longer work. All these things can and do happen And really it can happen to you.

I even have regarded into this as nicely and besides the undeniable fact which you're suitable in that it would furnish wellness preserve the damaging. it relatively is a good subject. in spite of the undeniable fact that, Socialized medicine has a tendency to reason hospitals to alter into much less aggressive. yet another unlucky part consequence is that the traditional public of the coolest medical doctors obtainable might attempt to artwork in inner maximum practices quite than public ones. they might try this because of the fact the prosperous will pay for extra helpful wellness care. except taxes have been raised an extremely important quantity public hospitals might desire to no longer pay even on the brink of what inner maximum places of work might desire to. because it relatively is sweet now human beings in many circumstances do no longer bypass into the medical doctors place of work every time they sniffle. If it became loose medical doctors might have so plenty extra hypochondriacs clogging up the halls. it is all that comprises ideas atm. Be warned human beings!

Tons of Americans go to Canada for prescriptions.

I spend a lot of time in Canada, and every single person praises their health care, and don't understand what's wrong with America.

The people that don't like it are anecdotal cases. No sane Canadian politician would dare touch HealthCanada.

If it belongs to everyone, it belongs to no one they say. Thus being why so many public facilities are constantly mistreated. They're only treated well when they belong to the community at hand, with the community center paying for it's upkeep of course. Through the tax dollars they get from the community patrons, no doubt.

It's not that great. Taking competition out of health care has the net overall effect of reducing its effectiveness.
