I cannot say whether if i fear death or not. I think of death almost every single day (result of depression) and thinking of death did help me cope with death.
My father once told me, he would not fear death because he knows that when time is up, he will die anyway and he will not die worrying and he wanted to die in peace, letting things go. What he wanted in his life was his children to grow up and be successful.
Now he has a beautiful granddaughter and he said he never regret anything throughout his life.
What matters most is, don't take things for granted and enjoy everyday of your life. Life is beautiful but sometimes things may get difficult. There are alot of things to be discovered, to be learned.
Enjoy every single moment of your life, do what you wanted to do, even simple things like hugging and kissing your loved ones. And when your time is up, you won't regret a single thing

I am absolutely afraid of death. I probably let it get to me too much. I am not sure if it is because of the fear of the unknown, or the just not understanding why we have to. It seems to me to be pretty cruel punishment to be alive, and love so much and so hard, and just have all of that wiped out in a split second. Not that life is fair, but that really doesn't seem fair. A good family friends 3 year old daughter fell through the ice and died last year. The greatest people in the world to everyone they know- why them? Why their baby? I guess those are the things that scare me the most, and make me think of it more often than some people.

We fear it because we don't know any thing about it in the sense of, what happens to us and our loved ones when we die. It's unchartered territory. Most people deal with it in spirituality. I just hope that we are reunited with our loved ones in some better place. Our bodies are only mortal and there is a time where they will give out but the bodies only harbor the soul that represents who we really are. So that soul will be out there some where and it will never go away. I am afraid of death and I think about it a lot, always have since I was a child. I just love the people I have here and to think that one day there might be a final goodbye scares me. I have so much I want to do, raise my daughter priority here, that I just can't think of not having that chance. The only way you can deal with it is to have some type of faith that there will be that place where every one you love will go and you will reunited with them eventually.

I think that death is percieved as a scary thing because of yes, the unknown, but also how our society looks at death. I grew up on a ranch, where death and birth was apart of our lives daily or monthly. Most people see death as a symbol of end. And ending can be a very sad thing. If you look at law the of physics though, it seems impossible for something so amazing as a "soul" or whatever one wants to call it, to just disappear after death. It can't and it doesn't. Death is just another open door.

It's normal to fear the unknown. Even more fearful that it's a permanent thing.
I don't fear death, I fear NEAR death. Laying somewhere in pain that won't go away that just won't stop.
I believe fear is a mechanism to use as a tool to change the outcome of something. i.e. If you fear crossing the street, cross elsewhere. Since death is permanent and inevitable, fear will only limit the path to it.

yes. its because of fear of the unknown. My husband was on the brink of death from cancer, and while in a coma which he didnt know he was in. he said he saw a dark figure in a hooded cloak waiting on a bench for him, but that it eventually got up and went away (probably when he came out of his coma, because my husband was given a 50-50 chance os survivng the night) He didnt want to tell me, because he didnt want to scare me, so he told me several months later. I guess it just wasnt his time. That was in Halloween night 2004 (this is for real) I believe your death date is already programmed in your body by the good LORD. Ive read the books How We Die and also one called Death and Dying.

Death doesn't bother me as much as growing old and not being able to take of myself. I think people fear death because they don't know for sure what will happen once they're dead.

u know about mercy killing..more that death itself the worst part of dying is the pain before it and uncertainity of "what next?".. but there iis one hard fact:everyone's gonna die...its just a matter of when...so really why **** up your life thinking about it...just live while you can...i m an atheist..so the way religions explain death dont ring a bell with me...to me death is an unexplored adventure..which sooner or later we all deal with...like it or not...and personally,m looking forward to it...

What's there to think about? Everyone is going to die someday, and there's not very many ways to control when it happens to you. Take care of yourself the best you can and don't dwell. What's the point? You should read "When Bad Things Happen To Good People"...I'm not religious at all, but it put a things in perspective for me.
