Finding an agent is almost as hard as finding a publisher these days. Everyone wants a winner and the definition of a winner seems to be that the book has to be exactly like something else already successful. These are not great times for creative people... but it is a fact you need to find an agent.

Well, I admit to not knowing much about book publishing, but I don't think you can just write a book, walk up to an agent and have them sign you just like that. You need to have people read it, get some feedback, make some changes if need be, then start pitching it to someone who can help get it off the ground. They'll take you more seriously if you put forth an honest effort.

Just keep submitting....if your work is good enough, sooner or later someone will accept it. Be sure to keep with an agency's guidelines, and it helps to write an excellent query letter (test it out on a few people, and see if it grabs their attention).
Try consulting a book called "writer's market"...they have listings of publishers and agents including their specific genre.

Join the club. I have a book published with a small press and am still trying to get an agent.
Keep at it. Go to writer's conferences and network.

Send a copy to Oprah. Just a joke.
Rejection is a part of the business, keep sending it out to agents and one will respond...eventually.
Good luck.

I feel your pain. I'm a little past 35 on rejections for my novel now, and trying to steel myself for a new round of rejections once I start resubmitting in January.

Know what you mean - it just rains rejections. Keep at it. Unfortunately, it's not what you know but who you know - and who you are of course. A guy was rejected as himself but accepted when he signed himself as an Asian Moslem woman called Ruhila Khan LOL.
