see, this is what i hate about the world's perception of America. we're not all mindless drones following the queen bee. the democrats and independents are more critical of the goverment than right wing conservatives. hopefully the new Congress (and election in 2008) will motivate some changes. bear with us

Personally I don't agree with your assessment. There are many vocal/loud/factual and at times mean/rude/ignorant responses to questions put forth about the American government.
What you may be seeing is opinion over riding fact as no one wants to admit their side is wrong. This can be said of both sides of the political arena, especially when it is so easy to find fault with the other side and ignore the wrongs committed by your own.
An fine example is the newly elected Senate - did the democrats get a clear victory or was it that many people were disillusioned by war and elected the new breed of conservative democrats that were running? Is this new ? No politicians want to be elected so they will say what it takes - their record once elected will tell their true beliefs.

No overgeneralization of a group of people is an accurate assessment. If you do not think there are Americans that question the integrity of their government, then you obviously do not know that many Americans. Did you miss the results of the last election? Granted, there are a bunch of them that feel that way, but it is not specifically an American trait. It is the trait of anyone whose government is the way they want it to be, right or wrong. I guarantee you've got them in your own country.

first off, never assume everything about everyone, we all have our own views..second, the govt may do things i dont understand, but as many people that monitor the pres ( like if he did something totally off the wall, belive me, someone would stop him..he got a ton of people he must go thru before he does anything) but untill i can do a better job than he does, im just gonna have to trust him...our country still is the best, and it cant be easy to be the pres..

I disagree with you. Bring forth all the valid questions you want. That is the responsibility of every American. But stupid question and made up crap as you see on here is just a waste of time and energy.

that's what our government wants us to be...sheeple.
Look at NYC. I read an article today that not only have they banned trans fats, they feel the need to protect the people from the circus, candy cigarettes, and Wal-mart. (I can kind of understand the last one, but come on..)
