Well, if you're talking about an 1803 "nickel", then that doesn't exist because "Nickels" were not minted until 1866. I think if you look at the other side you will find the 2004 date. This is a special circulating commemorative to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark expedition across the Louisiana Purchase. Keep watching for two or three additional designs in the next 18-20 months.

As teardrop3 wrote, there are no 1803 nickels. In 1803 the small silver coin, the half dime was minted. The 2004 Peace medal reverse Jefferson nickel, has the date 1803 on it's reverse. The only other one is the Ocean View 2005 which has 1805 on the reverse. Hope this helps.
