Because they have so much to hide they try to discredit anyone who does not follow them blindly. Really, shouldn't bush be impeached for everything he's done wrong? It's a whole lot more than just getting a bl*w job. but if you make everyone who dissagrees with you look like a tratior, fewer people are likely to disagree with you out loud. IE president ford's interview

And regarding us "b*tching all the time" lets see.....

"Oh My God, Gays want to get married!!!"
"Oh My God, They said HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!"
Oh My God, They won't let teachers hold chuch services in class in public schools!!!!"
"D*mn Libbes"

There are two ways to look at this.

1. By their most basic definitions, conservative means to want things to stay the same, and liberal means to want to change. If you question the government, this indicates you want something to change, which is by definition liberal.

2. If you define conservative and liberal based on the current party system, however, then it is a matter of who is in power. Most people who question a Republican administration are going to be liberal in nature. That is common sense. There are plenty of exceptions, of course, but statistically it is not that bad of an assumption. That said, I remember questioning some of the policies of Bill Clinton, and I was accused of being a conservative. Well, that is obviously far from the truth based on what I've been called here at Yahoo Answer by some people!

You are right that it is wrong to overgeneralize and stereotype people. That is the heart of the matter. That is what is happening when people assume you are liberal. The thing that I wonder from your question, however, is what is wrong with being construed as liberal anyway? It really is not a bad word... unless you're a conservative! ;-)

It's just because of who is in office. When Clinton was in office, lots of people criticized and questioned him as well. The other thing is that the past few elections have been polarizing--if you are a liberal or conservative, you are probably more liberal or conservative than you were ten years ago.

Also, that's one of the tricks that the republicans are better at than the democrats--they are better spin doctors (and still claim a liberal media bias)! If you question why we are at war, they question your loyalty and patriotism. If a conservative wants to question why Clinton decides to help make it a free country for gay people too, they say he has no morals. It's just something to get used to--conservatives never have anything nice to say about liberals.

I agree. Liberal gets thrown around for just about anything open minded. Asking questions is the best way to figure out truth and to learn. Those who don't question the acts of the government they are in charge of are fools and doing themselves a great disservice as well as the rest of humanity. To question is to care about yourself and the world around you. It is the only true way to understand things for yourself.

I agree with you 100%. It's extremely dangerous to call people names and tell them they are unpatriotic, "just liberals", communists, and everything else anyone who asks a question is being called now. It's like the Red Scare and McCarthyism. It's frightening and THAT is unpatriotic. Keep asking questions!!

Questions are good. Stupid accusations and made up tripe is not necessary and a waste of time.

Asking a question is different than questioning it.

staunch supporters of this administration believe that to question is to disrespect the office. And they don't believe that any conservatives would ever question..although we do...
