back in October 2004, I got arrested on campus and charged with public lewdness (I was making out with someone in a bathroom stall on campus) Campus police came and arrested us, the charge was public lewdness, a class A misdemeanor. I spent 10 days in jail, but was given deferred adjudication. So, I have an arrest, but not a conviction on the charge. It falls under the same sex crimes as public indecency though.
Will this arrest prevent me from getting a job in healthcare? It keeps coming up because now on job applications, apartment rental applications, ect..it asks if you've ever been convicted, served probation, or received deferred adjudication for any sex crime against another person or drug charges. So, am I just pretty much screwed and wasting my time with school?

No, you shouldn't have bad problems. If you explain how you got it, then I don't see why that would affect a medical position... Even doctors make out... plus you were in college.. no biggie =p

I don't think you're wasting your time at all. The only way an employer can refuse to hire you based on a convicion is if the conviction is directly related to your job. If you are up front and honest about what happened & why you were arrested, I don't think you'll have any problems finding a job. Making out in a restroom is a lot different than publicly exposing yourself.

I'm sure if you explain your situation they will understand (it isn't a serious crime). Try calling around to different healthcare providers (human resource dept) and ask about their requirments as far as a criminal background, they should tell you what they look for during an investigation and what they can and cannot accept (ex: feloney, assults, etc.) As far as wasting your time in school, nah I don't think so. Good Luck.
