Somtimes people think it is charming or endearing.
By being cautious to open up to others, you get to feel people out and discover a little bit of how they really are. By observing more you probably make deeper connections with life and concepts. You're probably more introspective and feel things deeply.
Some people think it's mysterious and want to see what's beneath your quiet exterior. Some want to help break you out of your shell. Some people might associate shyness with humility which can be viewed as a virtue.
Battling shyness is frustrating though because even though people may view it positively in some instances, the battle itself can become very limiting and debilitating for someone to experience.
