How does Laconia compare to Laconia and Sturgis?
It may attract a slightly smaller crowd, but Laconia has it's strong points. As far as I'm concerned, Laconia has the best riding and wildly diverse scenery. Where else can you ride for 50 minutes and be into Vermont or Maine, at the seacoast or into the mountains. Two hours brings you into upstate New York, Boston, or into the beautiful, wildlife filled Great North Woods region. Laconia is central to everything that makes New England special. Laconia has plenty of vendors, unique events, a bustling strip, and has attracted people from every state and all over the world.

I've been to both and wandered around in both areas. It would depend on why you're going. I like riding in the forests, riding some twisites and being able to get lost on the back roads. Sturgis is more of a "how many bikers can we get in one place" event. Not that there aren't good back roads at Sturgis, just that Sturgis seems to be more of a get together and be seen.
So for me, I'd go to Laconia.

Being from New Hampshire I'm biased for Laconia, great sights sounds etc., So if I had to choose that's where I would go, but the history end of things is Sturgis without question.
My suggestion is go to which ever is closer this time and next time go to the other, which will give you time to save the money you need to go.

Sturgis has scenery and back roads...so does Laconia. Sturgis probably has more "happening" but I prefer the laid back atmosphere of Laconia myself. But like a lot of things in my life..."been there, done that" and doubt I'll ever do another rally again.

Laconia's nice, but what can I say, I live here...........
I need to go to Sturgis, it's the only way I could compare, never having been there.

If you've never been, every rider needs to experience Sturgis atleast once! TONS of people and lots to do!
