Microsoft's cash cow is by far their Windows operating systems (personal, business, and server editions). This has been and continues to be the case for Microsoft. A close second would be their office products, such as Office, and the individual Office applications. They make good money on their hardware products, such as X-Box, but no where near the amount they make on software. Definitely not the Zune - it's going to be obsolete by the end of next year, guaranteed. Even though it's highly competitive with Apple's IPod - it just can't be Microsoft's highest grossing product.
I think for the Christmas season Xbox has made a climb, but it still isn't the most profitable asset that Microsoft has released.
The guy above me may be correct. Microsoft has devised a software run by 90% of ALL computers - Windows.
