Try reseting it by holding down the menu and center button for 5-10 seconds. If this does not work you need to restore in. This is done by plugging it into iTunes and clicking Restore (WARNING - This will erase all music so please back it all up! See bottom) If this does not work call 1-800-MY-APPLE or vist and Apple Store.
How to back up music -
Insert a blank CD, open iTunes and Click FIle > Back up to disc.

Restart it by pressing the center and menu buttons at the same time and wait for the screen to show the apple logo and it will take off the music but you can pit the music on it again, but it will work to unfreeze the screen.

1. turn off and back on, or;
2. hook up to charger, or;
3. hold down middle button and down button at same time (this restarts)

use both thumbs to hold down the menu and play buttons at the same time... after a few seconds it will reboot itself.
