I dislike the new music. It's kinda annoying. They're showing it on AMC right now. I had to turn the channel. Lucky me, I 've got the original version on VHS.

Anyone else dislike the new score?

You didn't hear the music they played on Halloween. We went to go see it in the Museum, they were showing it to celebrate, and they had live music. Those guys were so screechy and "duh-duh-duh-dummmm". I missed the old pretty stuff, the Swan Lake kind of stuff.

Actually I like it.
When Dracula first came out, it was one of the early talking pictures. At that time, sounds other than the vocals were not really considered. Notice the only music is at the opening credits. The filming technique used was still very similar to all the silent movies that would have live musical accompaniment. I think the Phillip Glass soundtrack captures the feeling of the old silent movies well and goes with the movie well.

I have seen the Kronos Quartet perform this with a huge screen behind them and Dracula projected onto it.

I have this on dvd, and can play it with the 'original' score or the 'Phillip Glass' score. I find the new score much more fulfilling as it draws me into the whole story more than all those 'silent breaks' from the original score.
