after looking at the manual online,i found that the dell 3100c dosent have a agp or pci-express card slot so you can only use pci-bus graphic cards
however there are a few good graphic cards still made in this type of interface, both ati and nvidia do some quality cards ,so i have compiled a list of avalible cards for pci-bus interface, and given a star rating for power, graphic quality and ability to run games
1. nvidia ge-force 6200....http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~Q74342~WW~/PNY%20TECHNOLOGIES%20Verto%20GeForce%206%206200%2FPCI%20256MB%20DD.htm...10/10 top of the chart, this card has everything for a gamer,it has 256mb of video ram,and most important, pixel and shader model 3.0,this enables this card to play all the new games such as doom3 and quake4
2.A.T.I RADEON 9250..http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~110366~WW~/Connect3D%20Radeon%209250%20128Mb%20PCI%20graphics%20card.htm, 8/10 this is a good all round card,if its a card just for watching dvd,s and photo editing then this is the card for you,but as it only has pixel and shader model 1.1 then this is a miss if gaming is your choice
3 nvidia ge-force fx5200...http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~100429~WW~/XFX%20Geforce%205200%20PCI%20256MB%20DDR%20TV%20OUT%20Retail.htm...8/10....this is a good all rond card for both gaming and watching dvd,s,it has a good 256mb of ram and a middle of the road pixel and shader model 2.0,will play most games but only at low resolutions
4. matrox millenium g450 ....http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~66024~WW~/MATROX%20MILLENIUM%20G450%2032MB%20PCI%20GRAPHICS%20CARD.htm 7/10.....this is a awkward one to reveiw as i have only ever used one of these type of cards, but if you need a card for c.a.d(computer aided design) or technical graphics then matrox are for you,but be warned the drivers are different for each card so you need to make sure you download the correct one
5. A.T.I RADEON 7000....http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~49689~WW~/SAPPHIRE%20RADEON%207000%2064MB%20DDR%20PCI%20TV%20OUT.htm.....7/10....bottom of the pile but a average card if money is tight, and much better than a onboard graphics set up,if you look around the net you can pick this card up for less than £15
this is just a small collection of p.c.i bus graphic cards but there are still a few more avalible if you look,in my own opinion the geforce 6200 is a solid performer and is probally the best pci based graphic card you can get
if you need any help or advice on getting a upgrade graphic card just let me know
happy new year

Because this unit is "small form factor" you will most likely need a "low profile" video adapter.
Here are some examples :
