How are we any better than him?

We are pleased to give him a punishment we won't even give to our worst child killers - the death penalty.

It may all be happening in Iraq but the British helped it all happen.
Do you think Blair should step in and stop the execution?

Im not saying he is innocent, but prison would be a much better idea.

And as for the Iraqis hanging him and bieng nothing to do with the US/UK....

Who do you think handed him over to the Iraqis and who do you think has overall control of the court that decided his fate, who do you think selected the judges?

The Iraqui people are queueing up to pull the lever, they hate him ,get your facts right.

They sentenced him to death ,not us.

The only way Britain helped it to happen was to capture him for his own people who hated the ground he walked on.

Blair cant stop the execution any more than you can.

you dont know what your talking about.

There are tyrants out there who the US and the West are quite happy to turn a blind eye to and allow human rights abuses to go on. If we were serious about stopping such crimes then we'd be invading places like North Korea and China, but Bush is too chickenshit for that, and besides which they don't have oil.

Good riddance to Saddam, but let's not pretend that there are similiar despots out there that we are tacitly supporting at the moment just because they have a few nice airbases to lend us for the war in Afghanistan. Let's have the same rule for all of them. If I was Saddam I would feel a little aggreived that I had been singled out for special treatment by the USA and company when there are people out there doing far worse.

Executing him isn't going to do any good anyway. Anyone who thinks it will magically solve Iraq's problems is living in cloud cuckoo land or the White House. The whole thing has been one sorry mess from start to finish.

The Iraqi court has passed judgement and levied the penalty of death. Not the "coalition".

I think your government has meddled enough in the Iraqi affairs.

...are you suggesting that Britain re-invade Iraq? They're already there messing it up alongside the Americans.

Honestly, you've done enough.

If you really have your heart set on preventing executions, invade North Korea or China this time.

If i'm honest i don't THINK it was up to American and British people (they had part of a say in it but not really enough to sway too many decisions), i think it was up to the citizens of Iraq. I don't know alot about their culture but i remember reading an article about how they still use death penalty, so that's why i think...

but i completely agree, everybody is as bad as each other, it's stupid really. Killing people whether they have killed someone else or not is ridiculous, i think they should be left to suffer for a while in prison...Because i'm so nice like that lol...

No. I think that the fact is that he killed and oppressed so many people in his own country. What?.... everyone should just ignore that fact?! Thats ridiculous. I think the fact that a majoirty of people are celebrating the sentence says something..... And the whole "life in prison" argument. Thats absurd bc a) it costs a boat load of $$$ to keep someone alive in prison year after year, and b) he would probaly end up bribing the gaurds or something to make it easier for him or to let him escape... and on a personal note c) why should he be allowed or showed any mercy when he was a reigning terror for decades! I say good riddance and if he was undeserving of hte sentence than he might be lucky enough to be pardoned at the pearly gates (but I'm thinking that is pretty unlikely).

I notice even the Russians are asking for leniency. No one complained when they hung Nazi war criminals - I still think dropping the death sentance is a mistake. What have we replaced it with but 'Life' - it would not be so bad if that did not mean 10 years max. If Saddam is not executed, a future government might turn pro Sunni and he may be released, then you would be squealing how unfair it is. Top him I say and lets be done with it.

Saddam killed thousands of people in his country for no reason. He allowed his own people to die. How can you possibly compare his horrible deeds with us (I suppose you mean the US) and our part in the killing in Iraq. There is no comparison, and Tony Blair should not stop the execution.

Saddam death is three years to late. He should have gone then at the time. Iraq wouldn't be like it is now because of the west.

Maybe giving Saddam the death penalty is a GOOD START, and the child killers and molesters will soon follow.
