Stop using only your heart to think about what is going on here and use your brain as well. Look, Saddam committed crimes against humanity - fact! Well, the new tribunal system has found him guilty of those crimes and this is the consequence of those actions. Talk about respecting Iraq as a country and not meddle with their culture. How about we take the first step and respect the decision made by the Iraqi judicial system?

I just don't believe it. He, in no way, showed himself as an example of love, forgiveness, nor brotherly co-existence. He hated and kept all doors of balanced thinking closed. Those are the desperate words of a desperate man.

Oh yeah, I enjoyed that man's circus tyrades in the court room for the past several months. Pure entertainment to me. You can't possibly be an American if you take Saddam Hussein's side. You know, out of the 26 years I've been alive, I have come to figure out the difference between Liberals and Conservatives. Conservatives look at a bottle of water as being half full. Liberals look at that same bottle of water as being half empty.

hay pal why don't you live by your own words, Bush bashing is a form of hate. You and others might disagree with the policies of the Bush Administration. and honest dissent is important and necessary, we must always question everything, but when you compare and state Saddam is a "better man" that goes way beyond the line.

Yes, I'm sure those words will comfort all those whose relatives were sent into the wood chippers, feet first so they could suffer. I wish Saddam was our president instead of Bush!
I'm saying it sarcastically, but you appear to really feel this way. Shame on you.
Remind me which Republicans said Hitler was " a bigger man" than FDR during WWII.
Really, so many Democrats spout this garbage. And they WON? That means the Republicans are messed up too. And/or the voters are!
This country is in BIG trouble. God help us.

It just shows how desperate he has become. He knows that the noose is coming soon and, that he cannot avoid it. He is trying to posture for the history books. He knows that is all the power that he has now. Did you notice that he has never repented or even admitted to ANY of his crimes? Yeah, he is a world class scumbag. A broken, pathetic, defeated, tin-pot dictator who also is a convicted mass-murderer. What could he do, now that his time is done, to make up for his sins?
Only the ultimate penalty.

cvq3842 is right.
This country is in big trouble. I am surprised that apparently no one here is protesting his execution.
And I am sure that the families left of the people who were tortured, gassed, maimed, killed, and tossed into mass graves will all mourn his senseless murder. I am confident that Saddam's last letter will forever be a comfort to them.

To be honest, though, he's bound to make a big speech on the eve of his execution. He wants people to remember him favourably and make his executioners look like "the Bad Guys".
He still committed many crimes against his own people and no pretty words can absolve him of that.

OK, if he actually wrote that I will eat my hat.
And if he did, it was to try to make himself look sympathetic, not out of any genuine magnanimity.
Please don't be so naive as to think that a murderous dictator would suddenly make such a radical change. How much hate was in his heart when he was spewing anti-western hatred? When he was killing thousands of innocent people in his own country? When he was supporting his sons and their palace torture/sex chambers?
Please remember all the things that the rhetoric of the liberal media wants you to forget...

Disagree, he is saying that he is sorry just a little bit too late. He should have done that when the UN issued resolutions and let the inspectors in. But his time has run out.
