No, I think with technology today, it wouldn't be a problem,,I know they might at times have the same heart rate , but then , probably most of the time their little hearts are beating just as our's do , on their on.. Probably on the first or second ultra sound everything can be seen pretty clear ..

No. If the heartbeat is the same..it is just a coincidence.
Usually you find out you are having twins with an ultrasound. Most of the time, the doc doesn't look for two heartbeats unless there is a given chance that you are carrying twins (like if they run in the family etc.) they usually just find the one, and then move on.

I am an identical twin. (well triplet but one died at birth) and the answer is no not always. Sometimes this can happen but it's not a continous thing. My mothers doctor was not able to tell she was pregnant with twins until her 7 or 8th month. He kept getting very upset with her telling her she was gaining too much weight and she needed to stop eating. Anyways, they finally did an ultrasound and the doctor said "Wow this baby is fast. First its on this side and then on the other side". Well he finally figured out he was dealing with triplets. My mom cried because he marriage was falling apart with my father and she already had 3 kids. I laugh about the story today with her.

If they are two seperate organisms than they would not share the same heartbeat, even if they are identical.

Honey, I'm a twin and the only way that twins share a heartbeat is if they are conjoined and literally share only one heart.

what do you mean, share a heartbeat? Yes, their beats can be somewhat similar...but exactly the same / all the time...I think not! And anyway, the first ultrasound would give this away along with the rapid growth...

I'm a nurse. No the you have two babies not one,therefore their are two hearts one for each baby. The doctor is able to hear each heart beat one baby at a time. They don't beat the same. I hope this answers your question. Take care.
