I want to do my first marathon in August. After that, I would like to get pregnant during the fall. Do you think the running will be too hard on my body and keep me from conceiving for a few months?

it depends on how intense your training is.

I know when I train for a marathon, I get really into it for about 2 months before with lots of high milage weeks. For those 2 months, I may not get a period. Your body will stop putting energy into ovulation as you concentrate on running. But after the marathon I take a break from training, and I go right back to normal.

I would say you should be fine, especially if you dont push yourself to do a really hard pace with lots of high milage training. and even if you did, your body would go back to normal pretty quickly.

As long as you eat right, take a multi-vit, and stay at a healthy weight then you should be fine to conceive after the marathon. If your cycles stay regular during training then it means your body can sustain a pregnancy.

No, many women conceive and they run marathons . Unless you are very very thin and you stop menstruating I think running will help you.

If you are new to serious running, yes your cycle may be effected. If you've been doing this a while and your cycle is regular, there shouldn't be an issue.

I know a gal who got pregnant while whe was training for a triathalon.
