Skincare doesn't have to cost a lot to be good, but I really haven't found a good line that is super cheap. I REALLY like Mary Kay... Yes, I sell it, but I started selling it because I used the whole line and it truly worked for me. I have combo skin that is break-out prone and it looks pretty good now.
I recommedn the Microdermbrasion set. It will make your skin look and feel smoother, refine your pores and minimize fine lines. The oil-free hydrating gel is an awesome light-weight moisturizer that won't break you out. I recommend that you use the 3 in 1 cleanser, then the purifier, then a moisturizer. Use the microderm 2-3 times per week, at night, after cleansing. you will see amazing results.
If you don't like the set or it doesn't work for you, Mary Kay ALWAYS requires consultants to give a full exchange and some even do a refund.
Congrats on your wedding!

Of course, every est. would say that her or his products are the best. Do not pay attention to that. Look at the reviews on the internet and decide for yourself. Just because something is expensive, it does not mean that it works for you. You know that you have combination skin, so try products that are for combination skins. Mary Kay skincare is great and not that expesnive. I use these and I love them. Believe me, I have tried moisturizers that were $120 and they are not any better than drugstore brands.

Your esthetician is trying to flog her overpriced regime, probably because there is a commission involved.
Generally, the less you do to your skin the better. Use a soapless cleanser, like Cetaphil or a cheaper generic, a alpha hyroxy product to increase cell turnover which will improve your skin tone. I like Alpha Hydrox 10% oil free lotion, as I am prone to blemishes. Then you need to use a moisturizer with sunscreen everyday-rain or shine-indoors or out. The sun causes more skin damage than almost anything.
Follow this up with a good eye cream, morning and night. It could take as long as 30 days to see improvement, as that is how long skin cells take to form.
BTW, Mazel Tov on your upcoming nuptials.

Pro skincare IS better than drugstore or department store brands
Pevonia, Dermalogica, Matis, Guerlain, Sothys, Murad, MD Formulations are all stuff I have used. Exfoliation and cleansing for your skin type is the most important thing, followed by moisturizing. If you have to cut something out of the regimen, leave out toner - but it does really help the moisturizer do a better job.

Actually this is not true necessarily. Recently our local news channel in Chicago (WGN morning news I believe, for those of you who are from the Chicago area) researched the cost and effectiveness ratio of skin products. And believe it or not, the least expensive brand of the subjects was the most effective! I believe it was Oil of Olay (I know, still expensive) but it beat out the exclusive, more expensive brands.
I would go with what fits you, it is kind of trial and error. I wouldn't go with anything more expensive than Oil of Olay. Sometimes more money doesn't necessarily mean better product. The research the news did proves that!

I love all Burts Bees products..they are made with high quality natural ingredients and the product line isn't too expensive. The website is: http://www.burtsbees.com
Have a fabulous wedding day! Many blessings to you!
P.S. If you have combo skin I would recommend the Garden Tomato Toner, and if you have break outs..the Parsley Blemish Stick. Also..the Exfoliating Shower Soap will get your whole body exfoliated for the event.

well, of course she'll want you to try what she sells... it's her job.
but, my advice is to see a dermatologist. most people think you have to have skin problems to go, but in reality, you should see one yearly for a check-up, just like your pap. They are trained to spot things other doctors might miss.
i see mine often because of my sensitive dry skin.
i use this stuff called LiPiKar, i had to order it, although you can probably find it online- even my dry sensitive skin is doing well with it. (It's for the body).
for the face, my derm reccommends Dove for Sensitive Skine. It's very gentle. He recommends it for my son whose inherited my skin, and he's only 3. For make-up removal, he recommends using mineral oil for the eyes (carefully), this is really cheap (find it in the laxative section of the drug store). don't use the baby kind-it has frangrance. Just a drop on a cotton pad removes all those 'long-lasting' products without srubbing your skin. And it keeps your eyes moiusturized.
finally, just ask your derm to recommend something- if they push a particular brand hard just cause they sell it- i'd look out.
most derms can look at your personal skin and recommend a skin routine. most are cost-conscious themsleves.
not everything that's good has to be expensive.
one exception- i find that cheap makeup ruins your skin. and it looks cheap. a cheap lipstick is fine, but cheap foundation can ruin your skin (we're talking about 3$ stuff here). remember, the stuff is on your skin, in your pores for hours. choose wisely. Bare Escuentuals makes amazing preservative free makeup. I use it on my sensitive skin and i have found it wonderful. it's about 25 bucks for the foundation- however, the foundation last me almost four months. so it's really just a few bucks a month.
Dove and Oil of Olay are standards and have been around forever. Sometimes the oldies are the best. They've stood the test of time for a reason. I use Dove. But, if Oil of Olay works for you stick with it.
But, try the Bare Escentuals. I swear, the stuff sells by word of mouth because everyone will complement your skin and ask-what do you use? (that's how i found it) it lasts a long time without feeling greasy or make-up-y. I think it would be great for your wedding day. your skin will look naturally beautiful-not made-up.
except for that blazing red goth lipstick-you might want to re-think that. ;)
email me if you have any questions

We'll actually nothing. See, those skin care product like proactive and such dosnt help. They cover up things and may look good now but as u get older your skin will get dry and wrinkled. The best way to get good skin is to wash your face with warm water. And if u really are serious about getting good skin u should put just a little bit of vinigar in your drinks you will get used to the taste. But seroiusly it does work.

You may want to try proactive. You can get a 30-day supply for around 20.00 at a kiosc in the mall. I use Clean and Clear Morning Burst and Oil of Olay, and people always tell me that my skin looks great, but everyone is different.

If blemishes are the problem, the makers of Proactiv created another system - Unblemish. You can purchase it at Nordstrom's or online. It will take a few weeks to start working, but is highly effective. The only problem may be dry skin, so make sure to moisturize.
