I am having problems deciding on two houses. One has more curb appeal than the other. How important is that (your own opinion)

Herein lies the problem. One house is located in a nice area. (It's also higher priced).
The other home is a nice area also. The immediate homes around it are all nice. Up the street is a public housing development. It looks to be kept up. In the back of my head the fact that it's there bothers me.
If I have company over the have to pass by this development. Am I being too critical?

This is a real dilemma! Personally, I'd go for the most comfortable on the inside. After all, this is where you spent most of your time regardless of what people see on the outside. The catch is, if you are planning on selling later on, curb appeal will be key.
Most people like to "brag" with their place, and how else to brag with the rest of the world who'll never get to get inside? Curb appeal definitely increases the market price for the vast majority who considers important what other people see.
Net, if planning on staying there for quite some time, stick with comfy interior. If planning on moving on in 5 years or so, I'd go with curb appeal and redesign interior.
Unfortunately, this way to look at it makes more people pay premium prices for curb appeal thus driving this kind of home prices even higher! This is however how this business goes.

Curb appeal is for the seller to sell... having curb appeal to me means nothing for it is ONLY cosmetic and can be changed.

If you are buying strictly due to curb appeal then perhaps you are over looking something within the house or under the house that should be addressed. Having an inspector with you while viewing homes is your best bet.

Curb appeal means nothing to me but I am not in the norm of impressing people where I live. I never spend time in front of my home so my curb appeal is actually back yard appeal with fountains, ponds, and to die for plants.

ONLY you can decide if the curb appeal is worth whatever money they are asking for between the two homes.

Good Luck !!

surely the cut back allure of the homestead around the line is extra important. i do no longer take a seat outdoors observing at my very own homestead, yet I do ought to look out the homestead windows on the neighboring homes for all time! so if my house is an eyesore among a real especially community, it is effective with me. as long because of the fact the interior is habitable then later once I circulate in i will restoration up the outdoors.
