Maybe you should find a girl version of the name Marvin or use it as a middle name. I can see where your wife would be a little peeved. And think about how other people will treat your child especially children when she goes to school or even a day care center.
But congrats and I hope she is happy and healthy (even if she has to settle on her name being Marvin)

You're naming a girl Marvin?? Ummm I don't think it's your wife that's "Wacked". I would name her a more appropriate name and give her two middle names. Like, Julia Rose Marvin (enter last name here). That way it's included in the name, but she won't get beat up at school because of it!

Justin. You seem sincere enough. you don't really want to name your DAUGHTER MARVIN do you. whats in a name you ask. you will have to explain yourself to "Marvin" every time she is ostracized because of her name.kids can be hateful and mean to each other, show some love to her and name her something you and your wife agree on.and how about you show some support for your wife who just pushed out your child . don't add this stress to her "post-perg. mood swings" or "hormones". if she feels your support she may consider "Marvin" as a middle name.
God bless you.God help your wife
happy new year

If the name is really important to you compromise on making it the middle name so you can give your daughter a name you both can agree on or try to come up with a name that can be considered a girls name with still holding on to the Marvin feel.. Like Maylin or Rina ... Good Luck and Congrats!

She gave you the opportunity to name your child and you are going to stick a cute little girl with Marvin. Of course she's pissed. You're a jerk. Does this mean she can name the first boy Nancy. This has nothing to do with hormones, you were just not being fair.

You can't name a girl Marvin. Sorry, but it's not a great name for a guy, and a terrible one for a girl. Hope you haven't finalized this by signing a birth certificate...

Maybe Marvin would be a better middle name for a girl, and the first name could be something more "girly".

Seriously, I'm sure your grandfather was a great person and with all do respect..... Marvin is a horrible name for someone to have in the 21st century.. Sorry....

I understand you want to honor your dad by giving your first born his name but lets get real life is cruel and she will be made fun of if you give her a boy name like that sorry but i think you should wait till you have a boy and name him this and if no other children maybe suggest your daughter name her son after him congrats on the baby and good luck on your decission
