while washing gum got all over my clothes, I went out and bought some more but my favorite jeans and some shirts were in there, what would be the best way to get it out?

If you put them through the dryer before you noticed then you can't, they're wrecked, throw them out and consider it a lesson learned.
If you didn't dry them then you MAY be able to pick the gum off the clothes, you have to pick every piece off and then wash them again, put some type of stain remover on the places where the gum was before you re-wash them.

Good Luck!

Gum dissolves quite easily in solvents so just dab a solvent onto the affected areas. If the gum has dried you may need to ease it off and the blunt side of a knife is ideal for the job.

Most solvents smell quite strong so you'll need to wash your clothes afterwards but there are solvents available in supermarkets and from janitorial suppliers that don't smell so bad. Some are specifically for gum, others are general sticky stuff removed.

If you haven't got time to buy the correct stuff then you could try strong alcohol, surgical spirit, methylated spirit, turpentine, even gas - they'll all work.

Either put them in the freezer and then pick the gum off, or you can try peanut butter. Peanut butter works for getting gum out of hair.

Put them in the freezer. The gum should harden and pull right off.
