you must treat it, if you leave it they will destroy the timber in house, I have seen badly decayed timber due to woodworm you can just crumble it in your hand. If you leave it will spread and get worse if you don't treat it. Over time he damage it can cause can start making structural problems with your floors and roof timber.
It can become a serious problem don't ignore it. When you get it treated make sure you get an approved contractor who will give you a guarantee stating that the work has been carried out correctly and done with approved chemicals.

the worm will eat through your timbers, eat into your furniture and everything will fall apart, if you have been told to do it you will probably have it written into your mortgage agreement, if you dont do it any damage could make your insurance null and void
