I actually tried an experiment in college where I listened to the same exact song on repeat while studying for an exam, thinking that the thought of the song would bring back memories of what I was studying. It didn't work.
Nevertheless, I chose a song that was catchy and had a good rhythmic beat:
"Tyler" by the Toadies. Enjoy.

My favourite relaxing music is Augustus Pablo, the "The Great Pablo" album or Sam Cooke "Portrait of a Legend", a compilation cd. I also like John Lennon's acoustic stuff for relaxing like the songs "watching the wheels" and "look at me". There you have variety: classic reggae, classic soul and rock. I find most classic soul really relaxing, like otis redding and solomon burke. oH and adding to the reggae /dub list, Keith Hudson and King tubby, dub masters. Eric Satie wrote some very relaxing classical music, early 1900, very calming. I hope you make a good playlist!

Classical is good, certain types anyway. However you can download meditative music from iTunes in the podcast section for free. I'll be watching the answers you get as well.

If you like new agey stuff, a group called Libera is friggin awesome. Sarah Brightman's "Luna" ( I think that's what it's titled)is great as well. Loreena Mckennit is my all time favorite relaxing music. She is a Celtic singer. Enya is also nice.
Those are just some new agey choices for you.

I like Kenny G., nature sounds, plaintive instruments such as flutes, maybe drums, serenity music such as: Sleepytime, Ocean Waves, Thunderstorm. I've tried a lot of different ones. And by the way, I think incense may be an excellant accompaniment to set your mood.

Yanni!!! Yep, I love the guy's old stuff (In The Mirror was a good one). Pop on some headphones and you can hear sooo many different sounds. Drops of water, dolphin sounds, it's awesome. I used to study to it when in college and I would tear through a test (I'm one of those who has to have quiet to study so I was amazed I could listen to it during).
