If you had $50,000 to spend on a car, and could not save it or spend it on anything else, would you:

b: use it is as a down payment on a more expensive car?

If insurance for the future would not be a problem..
A nice slightly used E class Mercedes !!!
or maybe a pre 1975 restored Mopar !! Cuda or Challenger.. yeah baby..

F.) I drive a high MPG dependable boring car that's paid for. I made the down payment on a house, have invested the rest, and spend money on things I enjoy doing. Expensive cars are for people with LOTS of money, and those chumps who think they need to appear to have money.

F I am an old woman and I would get a mini van so I could get my kids and grand kids in and still have room for my wheel chair. I would like for it to have a DVD player so the grand kids would keep quiet while we drive.
