Being a South African, I will have to say yes. This article does not really bother me due to the fact that we do not have things like terrorism and natural disasters. With the type of things going on in the States and Europe, I feel much safer in S.A. We have not had a natural disaster in over twenty years.Furthermore, Things are coming along nicely as far as infrastructre is concerned. Allot of you will be surprised by what you see, Should you come to the tournament. I stay very close to the stadium that many say will host the opening ceremony and it is really starting to take shape. Now you can point out the obvious: eg:Crime, rape, murder, prostitution,HIV/AIDS and so on, but what country does not have these things? The US and Europe are being fooled by the media into thinking South Africa has all these problems, but it is no less different than those countries.

Best Wishes for a Happy New Year Juve. I really hope so, it would be brilliant for Africa, but there seems to be increasing concerns. Blatter admitted the rotation system was implemented largely to help them secure a bid, so some responsibility must now lay with them to make sure. Security and crime are an issue everywhere, however they are highlighted as a major problem for SA. I think private investment is needed to support them, as personally I wouldn't have too much faith in Government with noted corruption. People keep saying "it's 4 years away, but that is nothing when putting together the required infrastructure for such a huge event. It would be really sad for the players and people to see the event fold, so I hope it all comes together. They have hosted Cricket and Rugby WC's successfully, but if things have not progressed within the next 12 months, Fifa may need to have a back up plan ready. Let's hope it's not needed.

All of which bar bar one have began and are progressing on plan to end early - halfway 2009. the relax stadium will start up renovations this week after information superhighway hosting the final huge derby of the season. green factor has been an up and down conflict with each and every physique throwing of their 5p. That ended approximately 2 months lower back and has began shape. secure practices Plan Dry run at FNB for Chiefs - Pirates derby went easily. Transportation A difficulty would desire to be demanding on adventure day .... no person is pleased with the assumption of street closures Crime Majority occurs in places followers won't in any respect see. huge city crime is such as Europe. no person have been given killed on the Cricket and Rugby worldwide cup, or robbed that i will remember. uncertain approximately fuss in this factor ??

The Search and Rescue is only a big joke. They say they're ready when they're not, they said they were ready for Katrina to hit, bastards separated the families, people were led all different directions with animals left on roofs to die of a slow death. Just like at the WTC, they're still finding bones.
What they need is an overload of cops walking the beat throughout the cities that are going to host the matches, all for the safety of the visitors.

lol i seriously wish that they would just host the world cup in Europe or North America because a country like South Africa just plain isn't safe or established enough to host such a grand event and i really want to go to this world cup too and i dont feel to safe going to South Africa there is so much crime and poverty and it isnt even very sanitary. I know that not the whole country is like this but seriously a country needs to be developed and secure in order to host such an event i really hope that they relocate the whole WC to either somewhere nice in Europe or North America - where it is atleast somewhat safe!!

i think that South Africa will be ready. they have four years to get their act together. And Fifa would not allow an un-worthy place to hold the world cup. South Africa is a very wealthy place and a great place for tourists with many resorts. if you have seen the type of places they have there than they can definately stage the world cup.

South Africa is, in my opinion, simply NOT ready to host such a big event like the world cup. It isn't the cleanest of cities. Infact they themselves have admitted many times that the crime rate is high in S.A. Its not just terrorism but rape, murder, theft, bribery, prostitution. The prostitution rate in S.A. is one of the highest in the world and it is all set to be doubled when all the foreigners arrive for the W.C.
The S.A authorities have to do something with the help of the police to make it a better and safer place. But I don't think that would happen; they haven't even done anything upto now.

if you want to pursue the pessimist route, one can envision all sorts of disasters occurring is S. Africa 2010
i would consider it a tragedy if the situation were so bad that some national teams would choose not to be represented
with any luck, it goes well and opens up modern Africa to the rest of the world

They will. A World Cup more than a big event is a big business. Thus, if they can't fix it buy themselves somebody will invest on it to fix it.
