1) Twelve 12 American astronauts have walked on the moon.
Apollo 11: Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin
Apollo 12: Pete Conrad & Alan Bean
Apollo 13: << failed to land on the moon >>
Apollo 14: Alan Shepard & Edgar (Ed) Mitchell
Apollo 15: David Scott & James Irwin
Apollo 16: John Young & Charles Duke
Apollo 17: Eugene (Gene) Cernan & Harrison Schmidt
2) Why haven't we been back?
a) American astronauts visited the moon on six occasions.
b) The "moon race" was an extension of the cold war. It was mostly about national prestige. We got there first and achieved our primary objective. There was some good science: surveys, measurements, sample collection. But it was mostly about being there first. Once we achieved our primary objective, there was no political will to go back. There still isn't. Perhaps, if we discover He3 or something else valuable, there will be.
c) I used to travel to Crested Butte, Colorado every year to ski. Because I don't go anymore, does it mean that I never went?
3) What about the Van Allen radiation belts? Wouldn't it have killed the astronauts?
The existence of the Van Allen radiation belts postulated in the 1940s by Nicholas Christofilos. Their existence was confirmed in *1958* by the Explorer I satellite launched by the USA.
The radiation in the Van Allen radiation belts is not particularly strong. You would have to hang out there for a week or so in order to get radiation sickness. And, because the radiation is not particularly strong, a few millimeters of metal is all that is required for protection. "An object satellite shielded by 3 mm of aluminum will receive about 2500 rem (25 Sv) per *year*."
"In practice, Apollo astronauts who travelled to the moon spent very little time in the belts and received a harmless dose. [6]. Nevertheless NASA deliberately timed Apollo launches, and used lunar transfer orbits that only skirted the edge of the belt over the equator to minimise the radiation." When the astronauts returned to Earth, their dosimeters showed that they had received about as much radiation as a couple of medical X-rays.
4) The U.S. government scammed everyone?
In 1972, there was a politically motivated burglary of a hotel room in the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. There were only about six or eight people who knew about it. However, those people, including Richard M. Nixon, the President of the United States, failed to keep that burglary a secret. It exploded into a scandal that drove the President and a number of others from office.
If six or eight people couldn't keep a hotel room burglary a secret, then how could literally thousands of people could have kept their mouths shut about six faked moon landings? Not just one moon landing, but six of them!
5) What about the USSR?
Even if NASA and other government agencies could have faked the six moon landings well enough to fool the general public, they could NOT have fooled the space agency or military intelligence types in the USSR. The Soviets were just dying to beat us. If the landings were faked, the Soviets would have re-engineered their N-1 booster and landed on the moon just to prove what liars Americans are. Why didn't they? Because the landings were real and the Soviets knew it.
6) Why does the flag shake? Where are the stars? Who took the video of Neil Armstrong?
Take a look at the first two websites listed below. They deal well with all of the technical questions.
7) Finally, please tell us what you would accept as definitive evidence that the six moon landings were real. Is there anything?

there are those who think that the manned moon missions were a hoax, and with good reason...the united states wasnt always the most powerful nation in the world... for many years the soviet union was as advanced as we are, if not more so.....the motive for a hoax is that if we could carry on the impression that we were technologically more advanced than any other nation, that there would be no possibility of winning a nuclear war against us... this is what we called mutually assured destruction...(mad)...the united states won the cold war based on such a hoax... it happened during the reagan years, when we convinced the soviet union that we had deployed a satellite laser station array that could effectively destroy any intercontinental ballistic missile....the hoax was called "star wars" and it worked....and it is the reason that the soviet union collapsed, because financially, they couldnt achieve a counter measure....this is the reason why the moon mission had to be true... because if it was a hoax, then the soviet union would have never believed the star wars hoax, and the cold war would still be brewing....but because the soviet union was convinced of the moon mission reality.. star wars worked , and the ussr collapsed....if the ussr believed the moon mission, even though they had the best spies in the world, then i believe that it occurred... not to mention that it was kennedys baby, and kennedy was not the type to lie to the american people just to win a cold war

Your question is very interesting, many people believe we never went to the moon, at least back then. It was a widespread belief that the united states could not have went to the moon when it did because of the deadline, the technology and because many people could not grasp the idea that man was headed out to space. Remember that the russians were in a race to the moon as well, also we built rockets that could take us there so fast that mant people could not believe that they would work, science fiction had given them streamlined rockets, spacemen, aliens and strange worlds, and these rockets couldn't compare...Another reason was that the stars didn't show in any of the pictures brought back, there should have been a million bright points in the sky, due to the thin atmosphere, yet there were hardly any. The moon's surface should have been powdery due to constant bombardment from ateroids, yet there was no dust on the moon lander's legs, these questions were asked by not only common folks on the street, but scientsts as well, as for me, I am in the middle...curious as heck!

Everyone who knows anything about science knows that we went to the moon.
People who are easily convinced about things they know nothing about might think we didn't. But if they learned some basic science, they would realize they were wrong.
I showed the Fox Moon Hoax program to a bunch of high school students last year. They were able to debunk every one of the arguments for why we didn't land on the moon. Too bad so many people don't know as much as those high school students.

Many tracking stations around the world were involved in receiving the radio and telemetry signals from the Apollo spacecrafts. Because of Earth rotation such signals cannot always be tracked directly from the USA. The same happens today with every satellite launch.
The Apollo missions were during the Cold War.
The Russians were receiving the same radio signals from the Apollo spacecrafts during the missions.
If the missions had been a fake, the Russians would have known and had spread the news!
They didn't.

I -KNOW- we went to the Moon.
Even at the time of Apollo 8 (which only orbited the Moon but did not land) there were some people who claimed it was all fake. Those people were the members of the "Flat Earth Society". They claimed the whole space program was fake, not just the Moon landings.
Such is the caliber of the people who claim the landings were faked.

Some people think we went to the moon because it is fact.
Some people think it was a hoax because they are idiots.
