Ok this is not a very pleasant question. Since I have been pregnant I have had thrush 5 times, each time I use the canesten once internal cream and it goes away, only to return a couple of weeks later. My partner has an oral treatment at the same time so I know I don't catch it back off him. Now it has come back again and it is really getting me down so I am wondering what is causing it to recur again and again and what I can do to stop it.

Dont worry and certainly dont let it get u down. My sister had thrush through all her three pregnancies. The only advice is to keep seeing your doctor to get the cream etc... And ask them why it keeps coming back and if there is anything u can help to prevent it coming back. But please dont let it get u and your partner down , think of the bonny little baby that you both have produced. look after yourself. all the best for the new year xxx

I was told that eating too much sweet food including things like apple juice can cause an overgrowth of the candida which causes thrush so maybe try cutting out lots of sweet things. I found Nystatin cream and pessaries better but get those on prescription and check OK to use when pregnant. Antibiotics can also cause thrush so I use cream as a precaution if ever take antibiotics.

You have Candida Albicans which is a yeast. Many people suffer from cronic yeast including my daughter. After treating her she is more focused and her tummy doesn't hurt as much.
Sugar feeds it and Yeast makes you crave sugar. That's what it lives on. Most Dr's know very little about Candida.
What works is crowding it out-probiotics-a good bacteria like what's in yogurt. Go to your local health food store and get some from the refrigerator, this keeps it alive!
Also Aqua flora helped a huge amount. This is a homeopathic remedy that really worked and is very safe. It tastes like water. Your baby will also be healthier after treating the yeast.

See your doctor.
Thrush is caused by a fungus called Candida albicans. This organism lives in your mouth and is usually kept in check by healthy organisms that also live there. However, when your resistance to infection is low, the fungus can grow, leading to lesions in your mouth and on your tongue.
The following can lessen your resistance to infection and increase your chances of getting thrush:
Taking antibiotics or steroid medications
Having HIV infection or AIDS
Receiving chemotherapy for cancer or drugs to suppress your immune system following an organ transplant
Being very old or very young
Being in poor health
Having diabetes
Thrush is commonly seen in infants. It is not considered abnormal in infants unless it lasts longer than a couple of weeks.
Candida albicans can also cause yeast infections in the vagina.

are you being tested for thrush? or is the doctor just diagnosing you from what you say?
increased secretions during pregnancy (and at the time of ovulation) can cause discomfort and irritaion - often mistaken for thrush. if this is the case no amount of canestan is going to help

I know you said your husband is using an oral medication, but is he applying a cream such as canesten to his penis also? men can have it there with no symptoms and youre obviously getting reinfected somehow

think you should let your midwife know as thrush can infect the baby quite badly in some cases.
