The most unusual thing about mothers milk is that it is very sweet, guess this explains why babies love it so much. It will also have a faint flavor from what the mother eats. Certain strongly flavored foods can make the milk have a flavor. Notorious things are cabbage, garlic, broccoli....it really depends on the woman. Most babies do not mind the variation in flavor. They become used to different flavors where as a formula fed babies are used to only the consistant, bland flavor of formula.
You didn't ask but just for the record I will tell you that even scientists admit they cannot replicate human milk. It contains things that they just cannot create. The colostrum that mothers produce before the real milk comes in contains all the antibiodies to infections that the mother has developed in her lifetime and will prevent the baby from getting sick. Any mother, whether she intends to nurse or not would be doing herself and her baby a huge disservice if she deprives her baby of the colosturm. Okay....I am hopping off my soapbox now!

It depends on what the mother has recently eaten, but mostly it's sweet. It's much richer than cow's milk.

Almost tasteless. A tiny bit sweet.
I nursed my children, and sometimes stored breast milk when I was not going to be home for feeding. I have tasted it.

I saw it once on TV, there were two persons drinking milk then they figured out that they were drinking breast milk, so they spitted the milk. So it's obvious that it's taste is not too good.
