With my first pregnancy it was in my 7th month but he was breach and they didn't want to do a c-section on me so they had to turn the baby themselves at the hospital. Yeah it was painful because they had to put their hands on my stomach and actually turn him like that but it was worth it luckily he stayed head down. Now pregnant with baby 2 i'm 25 weeks and had an appointment yesterday but they didn't check yet, too early. I go back in about three more weeks hopefully they can tell me something then. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one will go head down willingly!!

They can be head down at any time...but if they don't go into a head down position by 36 weeks (which they usually do) then your doctor will discuss your options. My baby was head up at 30 weeks, head down at 32 and back to head up at 34....now I am 38 weeks and she is definately head down and staying there!
i found a cool website about this situation...check it out! Spinningbabies.com
Gives lots of good info about the ideal positioning for baby to be in for a smooth and easier birth. Also talks about having the doctor turn your baby to head down.
Good luck and Congrats!

My doctor says any time between 30 and 36 weeks is normal. I'm 28 weeks right now and my baby alternates between head up, head down, on it's back, on it's side, etc...

You will know when its head is down. It hurts a few days while he is moving into the canal, but mine happened around 32 weeks.
