Hate to chuck them away, is there any organisation that can use the pictures?

You can use the front for a Christmas postcard, if there's no writing on the back.
Gift tags.
Tree ornaments.
Make a basket to hold Christmas cards.

Or maybe nursing home residents might like them for crafts.

Nursing home Activity Departments are always glad to have the old Christmas cards, especially if they have lovely pictures on them. They will be turned into many different kinds of crafts, including a basket made from the card fronts, little gift boxes made using the entire card. I worked as an Activities Director at a local nursing home for 12 years, so I know these things work. Also, some elementary schools use them.

I save the pretty ones each year, and cut off the picture in the front. Then when it's gift time the nextyear, I just paste the card picture to a cheap paper bag and like magic it's transformed into a beautiful Christmas Gift bag! Saves lots of cash and always looks unique.

I have one of those fancy pairs of scissors that they use for scrap booking the ones that make fancy edges. I pick the cards with the best pictures and cut the pictures off the cards and use them next year for present tags. I attach them with a pretty ribbon and it makes the present look like the present was wrapped by someone that has the time to look for fancy tags.

You can send them to the following organizations who use them to make and then sell handmade cards to raise funds:

St. Jude's Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude's, Boulder City, NV 89005

Ann Marie Romero, Seton Shoal Creek Hospital
Children's Unit, 3501 Mills Ave., Austin, TX 78731

Judy Horton, Down Home Ranch, 20250 FM619, Elgin, TX 78621.

You can send only the fronts if you want to save postage as most of these organizations use the pictures to paste on to pre-made cards.

Make a collage for next year, add the new cards (or portions of them to prevent the collage from getting too large) and place it under or near the tree or on the table as a centerpiece. OH! I just thought!! Make placemats for the dinner meal!!!

What I started when I was younger was a "memory box". It had my favorite picture, dog hair (yes, don't ask), medals, awards, and stuff. But most of all it had cards that I got from people. They started accumulating, and I had to get a bigger box. Putting them in a box saved room, and clutter, and I could look back at them any time. I've made several collages with them, too.

Well, if you don't want to make some sort of decoration yourself. I know some schools and other children's organizations will sometimes take at least the front of the card to use for kids to make things with. Other than that...it's card stock, maybe that be recycled.
