i am looking to further my education...quickly. I found a site that offers a diploma in accounting in 6mos. but what can i do with that? What type of salary will i be looking at? i live in detroit, mi if that helps..(to calculate the salary)

what about an associates in accounting (that takes two years to achieve) what type of work/salary would i be looking at there?

I want to pursue the diploma program because i want to get my foot in the door and earn some money.obviously it won't be as much as the associates, but something.

after that i plan on getting an associates and then a bachelors
but, i just want some exposure in the accounting world.

can someone please help?

thank you

for me accounting is so much easier to learn in class, and i would go for at least the associates degree, though some schools that teach that may give a one year accounting assistant certificate after the first year

next semester is my last for my associates (finance) and i will miss half of my accounting class,(interferes with investment class) i am not looking forward to trying to learn it on my own at home

H&R Block offers tax prep classes and hires the succesful students to work for them during tax season (NOW). The deploma will not give you much more than a bookkeeping job - maybe in an accountants office. From there you may be able to sell youself as a bookkeeping service - after you get lots of experience. For now it will be entry level wages.

The diploma sounds like a for profit trade school. You will be much better off with a degree from an accredited university. Don't waste your time taking classes that will not transfer to an university.
