You can't do it in the States. Move abroad.
Let's say you choose New Zealand as a destination. The Consulate will consider your criminal record when you ask for the visa and later if you ask for the citizenship, but it is very likely that your criminal record won't appear in your files there because you never committed a crime in New Zealand.
If you speak spanish, you should know that most Latinamerican countries don't make your criminal record available to the public, because justice here believes in forgiving as part of the redemption of the convict. So, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Brazil would be nice options.
Ask at the consulates before choosing your destination.

Get a time machine. (/sarcasm)
Personally, I hope you don't find a way to hide your criminal background. Someone who is hiring you should have every right to know what kind of person you are and what kind of things you're capable of. Your criminal record is part of your punishment for committing crimes. If you commit a crime, it follows you forever (and it most certainly should!). If you're worried about your record, bring it up in job interviews. Mention to the individuals interviewing you that you've done some things that you're not proud of in your past, and explain to them that you've changed.

Being a resident of California, Its an act of god. Expungement only works on some State Systems, Not all. And even if you get the records sealed, They can be reopened if you are charged with anything else.

It depends on the law where you live and what kind of crimes you've been convicted of. I know that here in Ohio if you have more than one conviction of a crime that is more serious than a traffic citation, they will never come off your public record. You can file for an ensealment if you've been convicted of only one crime and it's up to a judge to grant it or not.

Expungement - except if the background is rape, armed robbery, murder or the like. You have to wait some years if you are qualified. Talk to an attorney in your state for details.

Change your name and S.S. Number. You can't outrun your background so start fresh somewhere else. Different everything, right down to what you read. Big brother IS watching you and make no mistake about it.
