My husband and I are looking to get away from the city for a few hours one day this weekend. We've already done Lexington, Concord, Plymouth, Salem, and all the other places we all learned about in history class hundreds of times. We're looking for a fun, scenic, unique place that isn't as well known and is open this time of year.

What about Newburyport? It's more "alive" in the summer.. but it's got great little shops and beautiful old historical homes.

It may be Little more then a day but it is nice to go out to the Berkshires in Western, MA. There are tons of antique shops on your way. It is better in the summer because you can go out to Tanglewood, but its beautiful out there.

Another vote for Newburyport, MA. Great food, and great shopping.

Why not go skiing in Vermont? There are a ton of ski places in Vermont, and they are not too hard to get to.
