Yep, lots of problems with that. Do you like the spoiled rotten sense of entitlement so widely seen in recent years? Don't require anything of a citizen to earn their freedoms. In other words, if you don't like what you always got, stop doing what you've always done.
Somehow I doubt your claims of being a military vet as well as your claims of having kids. Why? Just call it a hunch.
As a former volunteer enlistee during the VietNam war draft, I really find it difficult to take your claims seriously...that may be just me though.
Sit on your hinder and let others do the dirty work, that's the modern way. Hide while others sacrifice for your benefit, that's the modern way. Complain and cry the blues yet do nothing to offer a positive solution...that's the modern way. Get the point there sport?

I spent 4 years in the military during Vietnam against my wishes. I was an E-5 after graduating from college. An entire generation grew up without fear of the draft since then. I'm very upset and outspoken on this because my only child is a draftable college student.
The election results may provide a change of thought. I sure expect it will. I made sure our son got everyone he knew to register & vote for anti-war candidates in November. Now, we need to declare victory and bring our troops home. I'm saying in the next 6-12 months, leaving a modest security force in place.
When the Dems take control of the House in January, they need to start investigating the corruption and waste in this war. They should start with Halliburton, the company Dick Cheney used to run. Lastly, the protests and street marches will be much bigger this time.

The Republicans have stated repeatedly NO DRAFT.
Now the Democrats are pusing for a draft, but I think the GOP
will defeat those measures somehow.
Personally I think it is a good idea, it will help instill pride and duty
in our young people, instead of them just sitting around with Xboxes
8 hours a day getting fat.
And I find it VERY hard to believe you were ever a Marine with that attitude...

I don't think there will be a draft, I think Rangel just wanted to stir up trouble. There are so many more benefits to have a volunteer military. Basically, a drafted soldier that does not want to fight will not be as effective as a volunteer, plus you needlessly risk the life of someone who did not choose to fight. I think Rangel wanted to pollute our military with less-capable soldiers on account of their less-than-willingness to join, or scare families away from war by threatening to conscript their children. An evil tactic to be sure.

No the government does not want to mess with the draft. Let's get that straight right now. this is the initiative of one GD democrat. It's getting press and developing its own legs, but it will go nowhere and you and I both know it. so calm down.

I would take my kids as far away as I could. No more war! This country can't even protect it's citizens without breaking everyones rights. Can't wait to see what happens though...

Our president is a pinhead.
No problem with resisting the draft. ANYbody who supports it is free to join it, and bring their friends. I'm bringing mine to the resistance.
You can't give peace a chance while physically fighting.
