GASSES!!! the gasses build up, under pressure as the shaker is clamper over the can and the intence shaking creates bubbles ( like a soda can, the can can't expand to accomidate the
gas buildup...so POP!, the lid flies off.

Better to throw the 5 gal. tub into a 55 gallon barrel with a fire burning.
OR,,, you might experience the WHY, by placing even a small, lit firecracker in the palm or your hand, then tightening your fist around it.

OMG I hope you didn't do that. IT's magic by the way shaking tar causes it to release demons.
