As a child I had the complete set of these encyclopedias. When we moved to live in Jersey my mother decided to leave them behind. Just a few years ago I found an identical set - dark blue - in a charity book shop in Hereford. They asked £10 for the set, which I was delighted to pay. They may be out of date in some ways - but the poetry, prose and art in them will never date.

They look to be worth 2-5 British pounds for each volume, depending on condition, and of course whether they are first edition or not. I am not sure what the current exchange rate is.

Only a very exceptional set of old encyclopedias would be worth anything. By their very subject "information" they very very quickly become out of date, especially regarding technology ans science.
