I allow other people to use my pc. Can I make 'my folders' a private area so no-one can open them. TKS.

Question

I get emails and then put them into 'my folders' which I consider private and don't want anyone else to read. Can I stop anyone from opening them by installing a password situation or can I hide them somehow? Thanks.

you should have your own user account from the log in and then as others have said all your programmes and files will be secure and password protected but if you don't an easy way is to right mouse click the folder and go to encrypt follow instructions from there its not perfect but is OK if you don't want to mess about downloading programmes

You can password protect your account and your folders; but I agree with Hasnain; set up a limited account for your mates to use and access the net.
Its much harder to gerta virus on a limited account since they can't be used to install software!
Go to Start - Control Panel - User accounts; password protect your administrators account then set up a limited account.

The best thing to do is setup user accounts from the control panel. This would keep all ur stuff 'private'.

Other wise, u can use 3rd party software like http://www.password-protect-software.com/.


If i was u then i would setup user accounts coz that seems to be the best option around.

u can hide ur folder by
1-right click on the folder- properties- check the Hidden mark in General tab -click apply - ok the folder will disappear.
2-to view ur folder open my computer icon - click on tools - folder option -view tab - and click on show hidden files and folder- apply -ok
then go to ur folder and u will find it
to re hidden ur folder do step 2 but click on dont show hidden files and folder in the view tab.
