He turned 13 months on Dec. 24th. He can hold onto things and walk and stand up, but if he lets go he can't even stand. When will he start walking or at least standing on his own?

Every baby is different. My son walked at 12 months but my daughter didn't walk till she was 14 months.
I used to take care of a toddler that wasn't walking at 17 months. If you are really concerned ask his pediatrician.

This is quite normal! My friends child did not start walking until he was about 15months old. Don't worry yet, and when it happens, it happens fast! Is he a bigger child? That too may effect it, also his personality, he may just be more laid back. Try practicing with him as often as you can by standing him up and holding onto him and moving him forward to take steps. Lots of praise when he does, even if they are little. If you are really concerned after another month or two then take him to your doctor and get him checked out. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, all babies are different and mature at different rates! :0)) Good luck!

I have 20 month old twins. They didn't start to walk until 18 months. If he's not walking by 18 months, you may want to mention this to your doctor. Babies move at their own pace, so please don't worry about walking late. The worst thing you can do is make a big deal out of it when there really is no problem. Trust me, babies will walk when they're d@@@ good and ready!

He's probably very smart. My son who is now 28 and has a 140 IQ- was big at that age-he whizzed around holding onto furniture & crawling but tried a couple steps at 8 months, fell on his butt, and didn't try again until 14 or 15 months...

12 months is just an average. If I tell you my daughter took her first step a week before 8 months, then you have to take it the otehr extreme and say one NOT walking until a week after 16 months and BOTH would be perfectly normal. It's the way averages work. My daughter wasnt overly fast and yours isnt slow. He'll be running before ya know it ;)

Every child is different. He is still well within the range of normality but I suspect the baby has no need to walk if you carry him whenever he needs to get somewhere. Try walking him with your hands holding him up. I really would suggest seeing a pediatrician if this really is a concern for you.

don't rush him. Up to 15 months is the end of the avg toddler starting to walk. 12-15 months. but some walk at 9 months while others walk 17 months. don't worry.

Every child is different the next check up talk to your doctor. I was 3 years old before I took a step but on the other hand I could say whole sentences by that age so its a toss up.. language or motor skills.. everyone catches up eventually

don't rush it. He will walk on his own. All babies are different. I will give an example. My oldest niece started walking at 15 months while my nephew and 2 year old niece both start walking by their 1st birthday. It takes time. Before you know it you will be running after him.

My aunt had a similar problem with her daughter. The dr had told her that if the baby wasn't walking by 15 months, then they'd have problems. Talk to the dr. If he's not worried yet, don't be.
