What I find works really well is a few things:
1. Oil of Oregano. Take one dropper full and hold under the tounge for about 30 seconds, then gargle and swallow. It has amazing antiseptic properties. Do this often throughout the day (at least 3 times).
2. Vitamin C is a great immune supporter. Either taking Buffered C, Echinacea (good source of Vit. C) or eating foods high in Vitamin C, can help your body fight the infection and reducing your down time. Try to not drink O.J. if you have a sore throat though, as this can irritate a scratchy throat.
3. Drink plenty of fluids. Hot tea, water, sip broths, anything you can do to keep yourself hydrated.
4. Rest. If you're tired ... SLEEP! Your body needs to conserve it's energy to get rid of the bugs that are making you sick. If you're running around too much, you could stay sick a bit longer.
Hope you feel better! Happy New Year

Zicam works well, at the very first sign then you have to repeat every 3 hours until symptoms subside...BUT (very important) make sure you buy the rapid melt tablets because the nasal spray is under investigation for the probable cause of many losing there sense of smell after continued use.
Other than that, plenty of rest, vitamin c, and time.

Astragalus is an excellent immune booster. The common cold is caused by a virus, so an immune booster will definitely help the body to fight off the virus quickly. Colloidal silver is really good as well.

At the very first sign of the cold, take an extra dose of Vita C and your multi vitamin. I almost never get a cold because I do this.
If someone in my family has a cold:
OJ, homemade chicken soup, chamomile tea w/honey & lemon, extra vitamins, rest, extra sleep, love and cuddles

Hot soups. Lots of water. Bed rest (if possible). Use a humidifier in your bedroom while sleeping. Zinc lozenges work well I've heard. All this and the usual OTC cold medicines.
