Iceberg lettuce is bad and will get them sick or kill them. Romaine lettuce greens are perfectly fine and very nutritious. We breed rabbits for pets to sell at the zoo I work at (about 100 or so on premises). Pellets were available 24/7. Every morning, the rabbits get a huge tray of romaine lettuce topped with fruits and vegetables- they munch everything down. Fruits and veggies we put in: carrots, strawberries, grapes, corn, melons, etc. Never had one die or get diarrhea from this diet. Only time the rabbits died is when a kid decided to step on one because their parents decided not to watch them.

You should not give them ICEBERG lettuce because there is no nutrirional value. However, other types of lettuce are just fine. Here's a good list of rabbit safe vegetables and fruits. Rabbits need about 2 cups of veggies everyday.

i tell everyone with rabbit questions to google House Rabbit Society. everything you ever need or want to know about rabbits is there. iceberg lettuce has no nutritional value. romaine lettuce has the nutrition value appropriate for rabbits and even humans. there are many greens that are very healthy for rabbits. iceberg lettuce is 90% water with the least fiber content.

Not all lettuce is bad for rabbits... they can only eat romaine in small amounts....i know this for a fact because me and my friend went to see the vet after her rabbit ate too much lettuce.

Yes, never give it to your rabbit. It can cause diarhaerr, intestinal problems and can be fatal. Romany lettuce in very small amounts is apparently ok (although I would never feed my rabbits that) but avoid all others (iceberg especially).
Rabbits should have a diet consisting of unlimited amounts of good hay, small amount of pellets and a bit of fresh, washed veg (carrot, brocolli, basil, spring greens etc).

You can give your rabbits lettuce, but in moderation. Ref leaf and green leaf are recommended. DO NOT give them iceberg lettuce, it would give them bad, bad diarrhea. Give them carrots, apple, cabbage and so on. But only a bit. Otherwise it can give them horrible stomach ache.
Remember to give your rabbits nutritional pellets as well as they contain vitamins and minerals to give your rabbits good health!

Rabbits love lettuce. The only lettuce that you should not give a rabbit is lettuce containing the E. Coli bacteria.

They can have lettuce, but not in very large amounts. Do not feed iceburg, it causes irreversable diarhea. Veggies are needed for a balanced diet, along with their pellets and unlimited hay.

Table food will harm some animals while not bothering others. When in doubt always ask a vet(cost nothing for a phone call) or a knowlegable pet store that sells rabbits or whatever else pet you may be in question about.
