This is a case of buyer beware. You sold it in good faith, they bought it sight unseen from a picture. If they are disappointed, that's the risks you take buying on the internet. If you do get negative feedback, it won't ruin you. It might slow down your next sale on eBay, and it might not. Did you advertise it as a "genuine widget?" If you didn't advertise it falsely, they don't have a legitimate complaint.

I am a certified eBay consultant and would like to offer you the benefit of my experience in situations like this.
If you used a brand name in your eBay listing when describing the handbag then it is fair for the buyer to assume that it is genuine, even if you don't specifically use the word 'Genuine' in your description. In this case, if the buyer can prove that it's not genuine, he has a right to return it you you for a full refund (you have a legal obligation to accept his refund as the product you sold was not as described). As an eBayer, I would recommend making the buyer aware of this option in good faith.
If the buyer cannot prove that it's a fake, you do not have an obligation to accept a return but I would still recommend you do so, to ensure you get positive feedback for dealing with the mistake professionally.
You never know, if you get it back you can relist it on eBay with a more accurate description and, if it is genuine, you may even get more money for it next time around!
Good luck!

Offer them a refund less postal charges and then you are not out of pocket. If the item is fake, even if you sold it in good faith is ILLEGAL and you will lose the money and the item if they take it to a store. It is not worth losing your 100% feedback as you will never have 100% again, just get the item back and resell it

Tell the buyer that the item was sold in good faith and you have every reason to believe it to be genuine. Tell the buyer that you'll refund the price but not the postage.
If it turns out to be a fake and your description said it was genuine, they are entitled to a refund of the full price and the postage.

Did you make it clear that to the best of your knowledge it was genuine on the ad? If so then it is sold as seen. You may get a negative feedback but you can contact ebay if its classed as not fair. and you are able to repond to it. In the end there is always one idiot who likes making life difficult and i would say that as long as you didnt catagorically say it was genuine you wouldnt have a problem.

There is not a lot they can do except give you negative feedback. I suppose they could claim their money back of EBay or Pay pal if they were desperate, but i would hardly worry about him going into the store to ask if it was fake, that would be pathetic and it would be his fault for not doing his homework first. Don't worry about this doofus, you thought it was genuine.

On your listing did you state that you knew for a fact that the product was genuine? If you didnt and they post a negative feedback you can fight back and dispute it.
People try to pull all sorts of scams all the time, if they wanted genuine they should have bought at the store, not on ebay.

Offer them a full refund inclusive of postage.
I'd be annoyed to if an ebay seller stated it was a genuine item, but the seller wasn't 100% sure of their facts, especially if it proved the item was fake.

Before advertising as genuine you should have had it confirmed. Best you can do is request item returned to you, in original packaging, in the same condition as sold, if when received and checked for any damage, wear and tear, and you are happy no damage has been done, refund monies received

Dont do anything, and dont give a positive feedback until
they have given you one.
A negative feedback on eBay is not the end of the world,
some trader have lots of them and are still in business.
I dont believe that eBay worries too much either.
